READING LIST

The following is a partial list of books that I thought you might be interested in adding to your doggy library. Most of these are available online at Amazon.com or you may find them at vendors at dog shows. There is much available reading material regarding dogs and shows but I selected these as some that I thought you might particularly enjoy.

1.) DOGSTEPS Illustrated Gait at a Glance by Rachel Page Elliott...a must for every breeder and person wishing to learn 'why their dog moves like that'.

2.) DOG EAT DOG Jane and Michael Stern A very human book about dogs and dog shows. This is just a fun and interesting read.

3.) THE NEW ART OF BREEDING BETTER DOGS Kyle Onstott

4.) HANDLING YOU OWN DOGS for show obedience and field trials Martha Covington Thorne She was a mentor of mine and this book is a classic but is no longer in print and copies might be hard to find. (On Oct.18/11, I found 6 used available on Amazon.ca)

5.) NEW SECRETS OF SUCCESSFUL SHOW DOG HANDLING Peter Green and Mario Migliorini
Current and informative tips from a well known successful professional handler.

6.) THE DOG IN ACTION McDowell Lyon Soft cover edition and well designed and illustrated regarding structure and movement.

7.) GOD BELIEVES IN YOU Holly Bea A very sweet illustrated book for kids featuring a goofy Bullmastiff.

8.) BEST IN SHOW Bo Bengston The World of Show Dogs and Dog Shows

9.) ANNIE ON........DOGS Anne Rogers Clark An icon in the dog world and a must have book.

10.) A SIMPLE GUIDE TO SHOWING YOUR DOG Richard Beauchamp A comprehensive how-to-guide that demystifies dog shows and makes winning possible.

11.) BORN TO WIN...BREED TO SUCCEED Patricia Craig Trotter The author is famous for her top winning Vin-Melca Norwegian Elkhounds and she is also an AKC judge.
